Too much these days is made of cheap materials and engineered to last only as long as absolutely necessary. Not to mention plastic and hardboard is ugly, even when whitewashed with the term "modern."

Wood offers an alternative: a beautiful, timeless material that, when shaped well, can last for generations. Heirlooms in the making, high-quality wooden furniture or accessories can offer a grounding point in our change-filled lives and provide natural beauty.

A renewable resource, wood literally grows on trees. To reduce deforestation, Rooted Woodcrafts uses mainly wood from urban trees (trees cut by arborist for some reason other than their lumber value), downed limbs, and wood scraps diverted from the fireplace. This ensures few trees are cut down on commercial woodlots to provide the materials for my work.
